Summer is officially here, and that means that the concert season is in full swing. The summer concert list is out, and we hope that you’re gearing up for it. If not, let’s get you fully prepped, prayed up and ready to praise. Whether it is your first concert or you’re trying to get it right this time, this all-in-one prep guide will get you ready for an unforgettable experience.

First, let’s settle into the pre-concert buzz, setting the tone right.

Usually, this is a mix of pumped and peaceful. It’s spending moments leading to the concert, slow and intentionally.

Charge Your Spirit Up.

First of all, it’s important to note that this isn’t another event but an encounter. It’s essential that your spirit is in the right posture: free from distractions, burdens and anything that can act as a barrier- especially sin. Prepare your spirit man intentionally. Fast if you feel led to. Dive into a focused word study. Pray deeply. You might also practice with a playlist that stirs your spirit and helps you vocalize freely. This is more than showing up, but arriving early.

Pack Your Essentials.

Essentials look different for everyone. For some, it’s lip gloss, face towels, hair clips, or mint candies. For others, it could be a water bottle, hand sanitizer, medications, phone charger, or pocket tissues. Whatever helps you feel at ease and stay present, pack it. Having your personal essentials on hand will keep you from scrambling mid-concert and help you remain locked into the atmosphere.

Familiarize Yourself With The Artist’s Art.

Whether it’s a single artist or a lineup, put their best tracks on repeat for a few days leading up to the concert. It’ll get you to the right headspace and avoid you mixing lyrics mid-worship.  Think of it as a little dress rehearsal to get you in sync.

Secondly, get into the physical prep!

This goes for skincare, hair and Outfit.

Dress With Intention.

Fashion is subjective, and we all have our unique personal styles. However, modest, comfortable and reverent are key. After all, you’re coming into the presence of the king of kings, so put some thoughts into what you wear. If you ask us, we would suggest loose-fitted outfits paired comfortably with sneakers (very breathable and sweat-friendly). Ultimately, go for an outfit that helps you stay focused, free to move, dance, worship and praise without distractions.

Skincare and Makeup Check.

A good skin prep base with light-weight products that wouldn’t clog your pores is always a go-to. Think of something that wouldn’t make you sweat excessively under the lights and movements. When it comes to makeup, it’s advisable for the girls to think subtle and long-lasting. A minimal, dewy base that feels second to skin, paired with simple gloss and a tinted balm, will keep you feeling fresh and not cakey. The goal is to look good, feel light and stay confident from start to finish.

Keep Your Hair Out of the Way.

For concerts, go for hairstyles that are easy to manage, securely styled and sweatproof. No one wants their hair to distract them from worship. Keep it simple, practical and stress-free; leaving you to focus on praising and connecting with God.

Finally, let's focus on the concert hour and post-concert to-do that makes every moment count.

Concert Arrival.

Be early! Getting there ahead of the crowd gives you a chance to find a good parking space (if you’re driving),  settle into the venue, soak up the atmosphere and also capture a few snapshots/memories. These moments are golden, so it’s the perfect moment to sit still.  reminding yourself not to stay grounded and focus on the bigger picture. It’s not about the set lights or people, but about Jesus Christ.

Post Concert Decompress.

After the last song fades and the lights go out, resist the urge to dash out. Grab something to eat if you’re feeling like it, on the way home, replay the moments that stood out in your mind. Once you’re back, journal your encounters, then close the night by praying. Put a seal over what God did in, for and through you.

Getting ready for a concert, especially a worship-centred one, goes beyond the hype and excitement; it’s about showing up with your spirit fully engaged. Whatever the reason for attending is, make room for something deeper - an encounter. It’s not about the music alone or your favourite artist, but rather about the impact it leaves behind in you. It’s truly about what God has done within you.
