For the Discouraged Gospel Artiste - Read this

It's been four months since 2023 started and like every other year, you’ve probably had ups and downs. We’ve all, at one point or another, felt discouraged, tired, and worse of all, alone. Discouragement is simply a lack of courage, or enthusiasm.

People may not always receive the work we put out as we expect them to. Things may not always go as we plan. As a result, we find out things we once loved, we lack the confidence and drive to do and enjoy. Discouragement can be a struggle; one that rids us of our joy, and contentment.

Today, we share Bible Verses for the discouraged musician in the hope that these pick up your spirit and get you running through the remaining quarters of the year.

If you are scared

"Do not be afraid; I am with you! I am your God - let nothing terrify you! I will make you strong and help you; I will protect you and save you." - Isaiah 41:10

Probably the most encouraging bible verse you could read, Isaiah here, reminds us that our strength emanates from God. When you find it hard to pick up your pen and write a new song, be reminded that God holds that hand. There’s no need to worry because God is right next to you.

Things will work out

"And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose." -Romans 8:28

It may feel like the world is closing in on you, but remember this: God is working things out for you. Writing music that edifies Christ may not always be easy, but it's proof of your love for him. Don't be discouraged - things are working out and eventually, you’ll see it.

You have overcome

"I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth, you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” -John 16:33

Doesn’t this just calm your heart and soothe your soul? In Christ, we find peace amidst tribulation. We are reassured that all the things we face have been overcome.

You are cared for.

“What is the price of five sparrows—two copper coins[b]? Yet God does not forget a single one of them. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows." -Luke 12:6-7

If God cares so greatly about the little things, why is it so hard to trust that He'll take care of valuable you? He cares deeply about our needs and even wants. Don't be discouraged, He knows.

All things are possible

Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But not with God. Everything is possible with God.” -Mark 10:27

This is a pleasant reminder of all we can accomplish when we surrender our trials and fears to the Creator. Where God sends, He'll provide. Know that with Him, all things are possible.

Draw strength from God

"Further, David was greatly distressed because the people spoke of stoning him, for all of them were embittered, each man for his sons and daughters. But David felt strengthened and encouraged in the LORD his God." -1 Samuel 30:6

David, when faced with discouragement strengthened and encouraged himself in the Lord. Even when it felt like the world had turned against him, he drew strength from God. This is what we should do when the silence or critisism becomes too loud; draw strength from the Life-giver.

Whenever feelings of discouragement or fear arise, boost your faith with the promises of God. That's all the strength you need to move forward. Remember that fear is simply False Evidence Appearing Real. Our problems that seem so big are minuscule compared to the Mighty God we serve. The conclusion of the whole matter is this: God loves you, and He's always with you. Just have the utmost confidence in Him.

Fear can creep up on you even when you are heading in the right direction, but don't let it discourage you.
