Veteran Broadcaster and Artist Muyiwa Olarewaju OBE reimagines popular Negro spiritual for BHM

“Nobody Knows” is the latest single from award-winning UK Gospel artist Muyiwa Olarewaju OBE. The reimagined Negro spiritual features a line-up of UK Gospel’s most promising stars; Tab Worship, Mark Asari, Asha Elia and Tee Supreme. Famed music producer Michael Oyo takes the reins on production, giving a contemporary Afro-gospel spin to a song originally made popular by Louis Armstrong, Sam Cooke and Lena Horne.

The single is part of a black history month project; Gospel Black Box, tailored towards introducing school children to the history of black gospel music in the UK. The Gospel Black Box includes a collection of activity cards charting major milestones in the story of British Gospel Music from the nineteenth century to present.

Laced with Tab Worship’s sublime harmonies and Mark Asari’s ‘RnB’ style vocals, “Nobody Knows” is a testimony of Christ’s power to deliver and set free. Given the global crisis of the last eighteen months, the message in the pulsating song from Muyiwa is likely to resonate strongly with listeners.

Never one to veer too far from his African roots, Muyiwa continues to fuse traditional gospel music with elements from Africa, and “Nobody Knows” doesn’t disappoint.

“Nobody Knows” is the fourth single off Muyiwa’s yet to be released collaborations project. Previous singles include collaborations with Guvna B, Joe Mettle and Liberty Sound.

Muyiwa and his group Riversongz are the only UK gospel act to have performed on American entertainment channel, BET for the annual Celebration of Gospel show. They are also the first UK gospel act to sell out the Ocean Hackney, Indigo 02, and Eventim Apollo. In 2020, Muyiwa became the first British African gospel artist to receive an OBE from her majesty, the Queen.

Nobody Knows is available on Amazon, Spotify, Google Play and iTunes from 15 October 2021.
