She's back! Deb Orah releases new single ‘Hope for my soul [PSALM 23]’

Updated: Sep 10, 2020

The Tanzanian born singer is known for her her powerful vocals, soulful vibe and genuine love for God. Her songs are heavily inspired by scripture and focusses on spiritual upliftment. This new single has been two years in the making and we’re so excited to hear it.

Speaking recently, Deb Orah described how she has been through a lot of personal trials that have strengthened her desire to do more for God.

“The essence of this song came to me roughly 2 years ago. As I lay down meditating on God’s word, I began to visualise myself walking though valleys and mountains, not being fearful. It was exactly what I needed to build my faith despite what was going on my life at the time. That’s when ‘Hope for my soul’ came to my spirit and till this day, everytime I sing it, I get that same visual in my head.

As an artist, I have been on an amazing journey. I’ve taken time to discover my sound and the unwavering support from friends and family continues to motivate me. ‘Orah’ means light in Hebrew, and it is my desire that my music brings God’s light and presence to everyone who listens to it.” - Deb Orah

So much has happened since the HFP Music Label artist released her first single ‘Just You’ back in 2016 as an undergratuate in the UK. Since then she has relocated to the US, got married and started a family. From a young age, music has been a great part of Deb Orah’s life and continues to be. She is an amazing praise worship leader at her home church and absolutely reveres the opportunity and privilege to lead people into the presence of God.

Deb Orah has strong musical influences from the gospel world inspired by listening to WOW gospel, Fred Hammond, Cece Winans, The Clark sisters, Ron Kenoly and other classic influencers in the 90s. More recently her favs are Tasha Cobbs, Todd Galberth, David & Nicole Binon and Maranda Curtis.

‘Hope for my soul’ was written by Deb Orah and CalledOut; produced in London by Michael Idowu and is available to download and stream on all digital platforms
